From Military Roots to Motorcycle Innovation
OUR STORY
The TactiTether was born from a combination of wind therapy and military service. While out riding, Justin sought a solution to keep his prescription glasses safe. Switching between regular glasses and shades in a saddlebag often led to damaged essentials. As an Army Combat Veteran familiar with the MOLLE system, Justin envisioned adding its functionality to his Road Glide. MOLLE, commonly used in military gear, securely attaches various items. Justin realized the useless tether in saddlebags could be replaced with something functional. After countless measurements, drawings, cuttings, and sewing, the TactiTether came to life.
Why Motak and TactiTether?
Military language is a dialect of its own often combining words to create new terms. Motorcycle tactical or tactical motorcycle became “Motak.” Initially, we received calls intended for an appliance company, but we saw it as a compliment that the Google algorithm placed us higher. The name “TactiTether” perfectly describes what we created- a tactical tether. Harley-Davidson calls them tethers, and Indian Motorcycles calls them limiters, but most people didn’t know what to call them. TactiTether became the perfect name.
Our Roots
Justin, an Army veteran, served from 2001-2013 with two tours in Iraq. His passion for motorcycles started at a young age, riding alongside influential figures. Motorcycling is more than a hobby; it’s a passion and a connection to like-minded individuals. While working in sales, Justin always aspired to be his own boss. With hard work, support, and dedication, he established Motak.
